Telangana: Record 525 Gurukula students from underprivileged backgrounds qualify for JEE Advanced 2025

HYDERABAD, Apr 19 : In a landmark achievement for Telangana’s social welfare education system, a record 525 students from the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGSWREIS) have qualified for the JEE Advanced 2025.
This unprecedented milestone marks the highest number of qualifiers in the institution’s history and is being celebrated as a golden chapter in the evolution of the Gurukula education system.
Most of these high-performing students come from underprivileged backgrounds, including families of daily wage workers, sanitation staff, and marginalised Dalit communities.
Their success is a testament to the transformative power of inclusive education, proving that with the right support and opportunity, socio-economic barriers can be overcome.
V.S. Alagu Varsini, Secretary of TGSWREIS, attributed this success to a series of bold educational reforms spearheaded under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
She highlighted that special coaching programmes were introduced to offer Gurukula students rigorous JEE training comparable to top private coaching institutes. As a result, for the first time, a significant number of students scored above the 90 and 80 percentile mark in the JEE Mains 2025, conducted in January and April.
Among the top performers are R Mani Deep of Gowlidoddi Boys College with a 99.03 percentile score, K Charan Tej with 98.30, and Ram Charan Teja with 98.08. Notable achievements from girls’ colleges include B. Tejaswini with 98.27 and K. Keerthana from GV Gudem, Nalgonda, with 96.71. Their success reflects the rigorous academic support and mentorship provided by their institutions.
Alagu Varsini noted that the Centres of Excellence (COEs) played a pivotal role in this achievement, with initiatives such as the appointment of experienced principals and faculty, strict micro-scheduling, continuous assessments, regular mock exams, targeted academic counselling, and dedicated online revision sessions. The department also prioritised mental wellness through counselling and support programmes, enabling students to stay focused and motivated.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Principal Secretary of Scheduled Castes Development Department N. Sridhar, and Secretary Dr. Alagu Varsini congratulated the students, parents, and teachers. They expressed immense pride in this achievement and reiterated their commitment to empowering marginalised communities through quality education.
Looking ahead, TGSWREIS has launched exclusive residential coaching camps to help the qualifiers prepare for JEE Advanced 2025, scheduled for May 18. A strategic action plan has been rolled out to maximise the number of students securing admissions to prestigious IITs, reinforcing Telangana’s position as a rising force in inclusive academic excellence and social transformation, a release said.
