
Police foils workers’ march towards Raj Bhawan

JAMMU, Apr 16: A strong contingent of J&K Police today foiled the massive march of Congress party towards Raj Bhawan, in protest against the action of Enforcement Directorate (ED) on the `behest’ of Modi Government, against top Congress leaders- Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
The JKPCC president, Tariq Hameed Karra along with AICC general secretary and CLP leader, G A Mir and other top Congress leaders-including Raman Bhalla, Tara Chand, Ravinder Sharma, Balwan Singh today led a strong protest demonstration against the Modi Govt, accusing it of indulging in clear vendetta politics against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and other top party leaders.
As a part of nationwide call for protests against the ED filing charge-sheet against top Congress leaders in the National Herald case, seizure of its properties, a large number of Congress leaders and activists held a strong protest demonstration at Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu raising strong slogans and carrying placards against Modi Govt, accusing it of targeting top Congress leaders out its vendetta politics and termed the action as illegal in a false baseless and fabricated case.
Police had a tough time to stop the top leaders and agitating workers who were proceeding towards Raj Bhawan through Raghunath Bazar and other City markets of Jammu city. The leaders climbed over barricades to show their anger against Modi- Shah for vendetta politics and expressed their solidarity with the top AICC leadership.
CWC member Vikar Rasool Wani, Working presidents Tara Chand, Raman Bhalla, AICC secretaries- Shah Nawaz Chaudhary and Neeraj Kundan, besides several former Ministers, former legislators, DCC presidents, Ex- Corporator, frontal wings heads and other senior Congress and Mahila leaders participated in the protest.
Speaking to reporters during the protest demonstration, JKPCC chief lashed out at the Modi Govt for its vendetta politics for framing and fabricating a false case against top leadership of Congress on flimsy grounds. He said only because the National Herald newspaper was started by Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru to fight for the right of freedom of Indians, the BJP is jealousy of its legacy. No profit has been earned and neither any illegality is involved but facts have been concocted to frame the case only to target Gandhi family.
AICC general secretary and CLP leadet G A Mir blamed Modi govt of fearing Assembly elections in Gujarat and Bihar and because of failures on various fronts especially tariff issue of Trump led US, Modi Govt has indulged in this kind of diversionary tactics. He said Congress shall fight back in all possible democratic ways.
