JAMMU, Apr 14: The 326th Sajna Divas of Khalsa Panth was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across Jammu.
In Jammu, the main function was organised by District Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee Jammu at Gurudwara Guru Nanak Dev, Chand Nagar, where devotees from different parts of Jammu including women and children participated to pay obeisance and seek blessings of Guru Sahib.
Prominent Sikh preachers and Ragi Jathas from within and outside J&K delivered sermons and recited Gurbani Kirtan. Pracharak Bhai Harvinder Singh of Sri Ganga Nagar threw light on the significance of Khalsa Sajna Divas and the circumstances leading to the creation of Khalsa Panth.
Bhai Amandeep Singh Hazuri Ragi Sri Darbar Sahib recited Shabd Kirtan. Local Hazuri Ragi Jathas of DGPC Jammu Bhai Surjit Singh, Bhai Harbans Singh Chak Waley & Bhai Randhir Singh also recited Shabd Kirtan on the occasion .
On this day in 1699, Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru addressed the congregate with a most stirring oration in his devine mission of restoring faith and preserving righteousness (Dharam) The creation of Khalsa marked the culmination of about 230 years of training by ten Gurus to their Sikhs. The Guru wanted to create ideal people who should be perfect in all respects, i.e a combination of devotion(Bhakti) & Strength (Shakti). He combined Charity (Deg) with Sword (Teg) in the image of his Sikhs.
Balvinder Singh Vice President, DGPC Jammu emphasized that the Five Takhats are revered as the supreme authority among the Sikh community worldwide, far surpassing any other religious or socio-political organizations in their significance. He also proposed that the eligibility criteria for the appointment of Jathedar Sahibs should be framed by a committee constituting of representatives from the Sikh Diaspora, retired Sikh justices, bureaucrats, etc., ensuring that the entire process remains free from the influence of any organization like SGPC Amritsar or any Panthic Political Party, thereby maintaining its supremacy.
Ranjeet Singh Tohra, President DGPC also called upon the Sangat to follow the path of universal brotherhood, goodness and virtue shown by the Guru Sahib who sacrificed every thing for the sake of humanity.
DGPC also presented memento to Charanjit Singh Raina, the newly elected Director of Citizen Cooperative Bank
Akhara Nihang Singhan headed by Jathedar Narinderpal Singh of Budda Dal also displayed traditional Khalsa Marshal Art “GATKA” which was watched & appreciated by the Sangat.
Surjit Singh, Secretary DGPC coordinated the stage and informed the Sangat about the reason that led to the cancellation of the visit of Jathedar Akal Takhat Singh Sahib Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj and also read the written message sent by Jathedar.
Other prominent persons who were present on the occasion were Avtar Singh Member, Harjit Singh, Karan Singh Bali Members DGPC, Jagpal Singh Treasurer DGPC Jammu, Karan Singh Wazir, Chairman Transport Welfare Association, Ranjit Singh President Tankers Union, Harasis Singh Sec Tankers Union, Surinder Singh Wazir, Narinder Singh Khalsa President Shiromani Akali Dal Maan, Ajit Singh, Tejinder Singh, Parfulat Singh, Sharanjit Singh and Satinder Pal Singh.
