JAMMU, Apr 13: At least ten animals were seized as police foiled two separate bovine smuggling attempts at Narwal and Bhatindi areas here today.
On specific information, a vehicle (JK21K-1108) was intercepted for checking by a team of Police Post Narwal, a police official said.
On search of the vehicle, seven animals crammed inside it in a cruel manner were recovered, he said, adding the driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot.
At Sunjwan naka as well, he said, a Tata Mobile vehicle ferrying the animals illegally was seized.
While the vehicles used for illegal transportation of the animals have been seized, separate FIRs also stand registered at the concerned police stations, with further investigations underway, added the police official.
