JAMMU, Apr 11: A suspected thief was paraded semi-naked after his head was shaved and face blackened by locals for allegedly attempting to snatch a woman’s earrings in Link Road area here today.

The incident occurred this morning when some locals caught hold of a youth from Reasi area, who was attempting to snatch the gold earrings of an elderly woman in the busiest Link Road area.
After thrashing the youth, the shopkeepers as well as the family members of the woman, including her husband and son, who is also serving in the police, blackened his face and shaved his head.
Later, he was paraded semi-naked to the Pacca Danga Police Station, where a case under the relevant sections of the law has been registered. Meanwhile, further investigation into the incident is underway.
