Couple killed, 4 children injured in accident

DODA, Apr 9: A tragic road accident claimed the lives of a couple and left their four young children injured in the Alsi Shamthi area of Kastigarh today.

The accident took place when a load carrier (Bolero) (registration number JK06B-1695), en route from Rajgarh to Bibruta Shamti, skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge of around 1000 feet. The vehicle was carrying a family of six when the mishap occurred.
Liaqat Ali (32), son of Manzoor Ahmed, and his wife Alia (30), both residents of Shadni Bibruta Rajgarh, died on the spot due to the impact. Their four children-Tanzeela Bano (6), Sanghar Ahmed (8), Sarfaraz Ahmed (7), and Bilal Ahmed (10)-sustained injuries and were rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Doda for treatment.
Local residents, aided by police teams, quickly launched a rescue operation following the accident and the bodies as well as the injured persons were immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital Doda for postmortem and medical treatment, respectively.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the cause of the mishap. However, in initial investigation it came to fore that the vehicle was in speed and the driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve, leading to vehicle’s fall in the gorge.
