JAMMU, Apr 6: To mark World Autism Acceptance Month, the Disabled Care Foundation (DCF) held a special event at Muskan Home for differently-abled children in Channi Rama, Jammu, today to spread awareness and promote inclusion for children with autism.
The event was organized in collaboration with Nirvana Academy, with support from Little Millennium and Unati.
As per a statement, during the event, children, parents, and community members came together for a day filled with celebration and learning.
The statement said that Shantmanu, Financial Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
He praised the efforts of the organizers and spoke about the need for a more inclusive society. He encouraged parents to be patient and supportive of children with special needs.
Guest of Honour, Vikrant Dogra, Chairman of JKDCF and UNATI, also spoke about the importance of community support.
Other notable guests included Akhila Magotra, Chief Learning Officer at Little Millennium, and RC Puri, former KAS officer and IRCS Secretary.
The theme of this year’s celebration was “Light It Blue,” symbolizing autism awareness.
The venue was decorated with blue balloons, and children wore blue wristbands to mark the occasion.
The event began with a joyful cake-cutting ceremony, followed by cultural performances by the children, including traditional Dogri songs.
A special moment came when Rekha, a differently-abled child, sang a devotional song, touching the hearts of all present.
Guests interacted with the children and appreciated their talents. Snacks were served, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Umesh Sharma, Chairman of DCF, thanked all the guests and said the Foundation will continue to hold such events to ensure every child feels loved and included.
