JAMMU, Apr 3: In a significant boost to affordable healthcare, a new Jan Aushadhi Kendra and a dedicated Outpatient Department (OPD) registration window for senior citizens were inaugurated today at the Sub District Hospital (SDH) Bishnah.
The inauguration was led by MLA Bishnah Dr Rajeev Kumar Bhagat, alongside DDC Bishnah Dharminder Kumar, Director Health Services (DHS) Jammu Dr Abdul Hamid Zargar and Block Medical Officer (BMO) Bishnah Dr Ghanshyam Singh.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Bhagat emphasized the Government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and promoting affordable medical access. He urged the hospital staff and community leaders to raise awareness about the benefits of generic medicines.
“The launch of this Kendra is a landmark moment for Bishnah. Affordable medicines are a necessity, and this facility will alleviate the financial burden on families while ensuring quality healthcare,” said Dr Bhagat. He assured the attendees of his continued support in further enhancing the healthcare facilities within the Bishnah region.
Additionally, a separate OPD registration window for senior citizens was inaugurated to streamline patient registration, reducing waiting times and enhancing convenience for elderly individuals as previously, senior citizens often faced lengthy queues and a cumbersome registration process, which could be challenging for them, particularly those with mobility issues.
Dr Zargar, while speaking on the occasion, highlighted the Jan Aushadhi scheme’s role in making healthcare more accessible. He also acknowledged the positive impact of the new OPD registration window for senior citizens, noting that it would enhance the efficiency of outpatient services and improve patient satisfaction.
BMO Bishnah highlighted the collaborative efforts of the hospital staff in establishing both the Jan Aushadhi Kendra and the separate OPD window for senior citizens while stressing that the newly inaugurated facilities will help ease medical expenses and improve patient experience.
