KP activists appeal leaders to evolve consensus on return issue

JAMMU, June 15: A meeting of various social activists was held in response to the return of Kashmiri Pandit community to the Valley.
Addressing the meeting, Pintoo Ji of Jagti appealed all the KP leaders to formulate and submit a united memorandum, feasible in all respects to the community. He said before formulation of any decision all the KP leaders must hold a general meeting to have threadbear discussion on the issue, so that positive result for the betterment of the community are attained.
He said, “we have suffered a lot since 700 years prior to 1990 mass exodus, history is evident to it. Encroachment of property and religious places, change of name of religious places, the latest statement of the hardliner leader Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani, recent statement of J&K CM, If abolition of Article 370 was done we have to decide the alternative option, various militant outfits are still alive and operative carrying the strategy of ISI”. Such policies  discourage our existence in the Valley and under the existing radical norms prevailing in the Valley our survival is difficult, he added.
He it is a golden opportunity provided by the Central Government once again for the co-operation and unity of the community, so that unanimous programme is formulated for the future and our coming generations should not become the victim of radicalism and fanaticism once again.
He warned the people having no mandate from the community should not try to harm the cause for their vested interests.
While addressing, T.K.Dhar said, Govt., failed to solve burning problems like compensation to overaged youth, enhancement of relief, implementation of PM’s employment package, settling other pending issues.
Veer Ji Belove said, that Government has failed even to protect the religious places and property of Pandits and under a hatched conspiracy deferred the passing of Shrine Bill and backward area benefits. The KPs were deprived of various schemes launched by Central and State Government for the upliftment of J&K people and for last 25 years KPs have been deprived from every fundamental right.
