JAMMU, Mar 29: To address the long standing civic issues faced by the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community, a delegation from BJP Kashmir Displaced District (KDD) led by district president, Rajeev Pandita met Jammu Municipal Commissioner, Devansh Yadav here, today.
Accompanied by general secretaries, H.K. Razdan and M.L. Bhat , the delegation submitted multiple applications highlighting critical infrastructural and sanitation concerns in areas where displaced Kashmiri Pandits reside in large numbers.
The delegation raised the concern of residents from different Mandal offices including Durga Mandal (Durga Nagar), Kheer Bhawani Mandal (Bohri, Anand Nagar, Talab Tillo, Gol Gujral, Subash Nagar), Tika Lal Taploo Mandal, (Jagti township ,TRT Nagrota ), and P.N. Bhat Mandal (Bantalab). The applications submitted emphasized the dire need for immediate attention to several civic issues that have remained unresolved for a long time.
Among the key issues discussed were sanitation and waste management as residents have been facing problems due to irregular garbage collection and unhygienic conditions in many areas. The delegation urged JMC to ensure timely waste disposal and sanitation services. Repair of lanes and drains several localities suffer from damaged lanes and clogged drains, leading to inconvenience for residents, particularly during rains. The delegation called for urgent repairs and maintenance.
Installation of street lights in many areas, especially in Jagti township and Durga Nagar were highlighted for the safety concerns of residents. The delegation requested the installation of adequate street lighting to ensure a secure living environment.
In addition to these civic issues, BJP KDD also requested JMC to provide necessary facilities, including mobile toilet vans, for the upcoming Samahik Yegnopavit Samaroh at Mirza Kak Ashram, Nagrota, scheduled for 2nd & 3rd April 2025 .Given the large gathering expected at the event, the delegation emphasized the need for proper sanitation arrangements.
Municipal Commissioner, Devansh Yadav issued on-the-spot instructions to the concerned JMC officials, directing them to take immediate action on all the highlighted issues.
