BGSBU introduces new UG programs in Languages and Humanities

JAMMU, Mar 22: In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) has introduced new undergraduate programs in Languages and Humanities, aimed at providing multidisciplinary education, promoting linguistic diversity, and enhancing career opportunities for students.
The newly launched programs include Kashmiri, Pahari, Gojri, Persian, English, Urdu, Hindi, Sanskrit, and Linguistics in the language domain, along with History, Sociology, Political Science, Islamic Studies, Economics, and Education in the humanities and social sciences.
These courses will not only help in preserving and promoting India’s rich linguistic and cultural heritage but also open new avenues for employment in teaching, research, translation, journalism, public administration, tourism, and cultural studies.
Vice Chancellor Prof Jawaid Iqbal highlighted the significance of these programs in shaping students’ future careers while contributing to regional and national development. He stated, “These programs are designed to meet the growing demand for professionals in language studies, education, social sciences, and interdisciplinary research.”
Prof Iqbal further stressed the role of these programs in national progress, adding, “By offering education in regional and classical languages alongside social sciences, we are contributing to the national aspirations of linguistic preservation, social empowerment, and inclusive growth.”
Prof M J Warsi, Dean Academic Affairs, also expressed his views on this important academic expansion. He remarked, “The introduction of these programs is a transformative step towards making education more inclusive and career-oriented. These courses will foster critical thinking, research excellence, and linguistic proficiency, enabling students to compete at national and international levels.”
