JAMMU, June 11: Vishwakarma Dogra Labour Union (VDLU) has decided to participate in the coming State Assembly elections by fielding candidates in the selected four or five segments.
This was disclosed today by president of the Union, Kuldeep Raj Chalotra, while addressing a press conference here at Press Club.
He said initially Union will field four or five candidates in the selected four or five segments and is sure to win all these seats.
To support the Union’s decision to participate in Assembly elections, Chalotra said a big chunk of State population is still doing labour work even after sixty five years of independence and living in miserable condition.
Many a time the Union put up labour class’ demands like allotment of lands to the landless labourers in the villages, establishment of a labour colony in the municipal limits of Jammu City for labour class, constitution of a separate Labour Advisory Board for welfare of labour class and proper implementation Government schemes like MNREGA, IAY, Old age and widow pension, etc for labourers, before the Government, which failed to provide their due share and justice to the labour class of J&K.
Under these circumstances, he said, labour class is compelled to grab power by participating in the coming State Assembly elections. In this way our own MLAs will speak and make laws inside the State Assembly for their fellow workers.
The VDLU president said that where their candidate will not be in fray, they will support the political party, which gives mandate to the labour class.
