MERRUT (UP), Mar 9 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that all obstacles hindering opportunities for the youth will be eliminated and western UP would not be left behind in development.
The CM participated in a loan distribution programme at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Auditorium of Chaudhary Charan Singh University, where Rs 48 crore was distributed to 1,070 young beneficiaries from Meerut and Saharanpur divisions.
Emphasizing the government’s resolve to support youth development, he highlighted the overwhelming enthusiasm for the ‘CM Yuva Udyami Scheme’ launched on January 24.
Yogi said that the scheme received over 2.67 lakh applications, surpassing its target of 1 lakh. “After screening, more than 1 lakh applications were forwarded to banks, approving over 25,000 loans, with disbursements already underway. In Meerut alone, 1,070 young entrepreneurs benefited from the scheme during the event,” he said.
He highlighted that under the scheme’s first phase, interest-free loans of up to Rs 5 lakh are being provided, with the government bearing the entire interest cost. “Special provisions have been made for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and women entrepreneurs,” he said.
The CM described the initiative as a crucial step towards empowering the youth and aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Startup India, Standup India’.
Referring to Meerut as ‘Krantidhara’ and a ‘Paavan Sthal’, he stressed the need to transform the region into an educational hub. He assured that western UP would not be left behind in development and pledged to eliminate all obstacles hindering opportunities for the youth.
Highlighting the achievements of the double-engine government over the past eight years, Yogi pointed out that investments worth over Rs 15 lakh crore have been brought to the state, generating employment for 7 lakh youth.
He said, “Besides, 7.5 lakh youth have been provided government jobs. By revitalising the MSME sector, UP has emerged as the nation’s leader with 96 lakh units, exporting products worth Rs 2.25 lakh crore. This growth has contributed to a declining unemployment rate and lifted six crore people above the poverty line,” he said
He also discussed plans to extend the Ganga Expressway to Haridwar to connect the two Kumbh cities. He said that the launch of India’s first rapid rail between Delhi and Meerut significantly eased travel.
The CM affirmed that law and order in the state have greatly improved, ensuring safety for every daughter, businessman, and youth. Before the event, he visited an exhibition showcasing young entrepreneurs who started businesses under the government’s scheme. Youth from Meerut, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Saharanpur, and Shamli participated in the exhibition.
He said that the youth’s challenges are no longer daunting when the government stands firmly behind them. He emphasised that a New UP is emerging as the foundation of New India.
Speaking about the significance of empowering 1,070 new young entrepreneurs just before Holi, Yogi expressed confidence that their energy will be crucial in transforming UP into a 1 trillion dollar economy. “This progress will also contribute to India’s journey towards becoming a 5 trillion dollars economy,” he said.
