Srinagar, Mar 8: Police today arrested 4 drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesman said that a party of Police Station Kunzer, headed by SHO apprehended a drug peddler at a checkpoint established at Tarhama.
He has been identified as Habil Yaseen Dar son of Mohammad Yaseen Dar resident of Habbakadal Srinagar, at present Tarhama, Kunzer. “During search, heroin, weighing about 10 grams was recovered from his possession,” he said.
The spokesman said that another Police party of PP Palhallan at a checkpoint established at Yadipora Crossing intercepted two persons, identified as Rayees Ahmad Tantray son of Mohammad Maqbool Tantray resident of Yadipora Palhallan and Danish Ahmad Dar son of Bashir Ahmad Dar resident of Takiya Tapper. “During search, charas weighing about 2.9 kgs was recovered from their possession. Both were arrested,” he said.
Meanwhile, in Budgam the spokesman said that a Police party of PS Khansahib established a check point at village Chamboora and arrested a drug peddler identified as Tanveer Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Rashid Bhat resident of Arigam Budgam. “During search, four sticks of charas like substance was recovered from his possession,” he said.
“Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.”
