MP meets Sinha, demands fast track probe

JAMMU, Mar 7: NC MP, Mian Altaf Ahmed today met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and raised the issue of the three missing labourers from Qazigund area of Anantnag district and sought a fast track investigation into their disappearance.
The MP expressed concern about the disappearance of Reyaz Ahmad, Showket Ahmed, residents of Pajan Qazigund and Mukhtar Ahmad, resident of Lambar Qazigund in Anantnag district for the last several days. He urged the LG for his intervention to fast track the investigations into the disappearance of the three people whose whereabouts are unknown since February 13.
The LG assured the MP of all possible help in the matter.
A delegation of District Development Council Chairpersons called on Lieutenant Governor and discussed various development issues of their respective districts.
The delegation was comprised of Col. Mahan Singh (Retd.) Chairman, DDC Kathua; Keshav Dutt Sharma, Chairman, DDC, Samba; Bharat Bhushan, Chairman, DDC, Jammu; Lal Chand, Chairman, DDC Udhampur; Dhananter Singh Kotwal, Chairman, DDC, Doda and Suraj Singh, Vice Chairman DDC Jammu.
A delegation of Janta Dal United led by its J&K President GM Shaheen also called on Lieutenant Governor.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor interacted with the National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers, who took part in the Republic Day Camp 2025 at New Delhi.
The NSS Volunteers, accompanied by Coordinator, Dr Hema Gandotra, University of Jammu and Dr Amit Pal, Cluster University, Jammu, shared their experience at the Republic Day camp.
A delegation of Shakti Udghosh Foundation led by its Convenor Preeti Choudhary also called on Lieutenant Governor.
The delegation briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the Women Bike Expedition for “Nasha Mukt Seemayein” in J&K, organised by the Shakti Udghosh Foundation, ahead of the International Women’s Day.
The Lieutenant Governor congratulated and lauded the female bikers and everyone associated with the Foundation for their courageous efforts dedicated to accelerating action against drug abuse.
Eighteen female bikers from different parts of the country travelled along the zero-border line area. The ride covered areas across the Ditch-cum-Bandh (DCB), International Border (IB), and Line of Control (LoC), spanning from Kathua to Poonch.
