State Taxes Deptt realizes penalty of Rs 6.92 lakh from battery scrap dealer

UDHAMPUR, Feb 18: In a major action enforcement Udhampur realized a penalty of Rs 6,92,216 from a tax payer carrying battery scrap in violation of GST regulations.
Acting on specific intelligence input, the enforcement team Udhampur laid a special naka and intercepted a vehicle involved in circular trading for passing fake Input Tax Credit (ITC) without actual movement of goods, in violation of GST norms.
During the investigation it was found that the nexus involved 2 taxpayers from Delhi, 1 from J&K (fake), 1 from Haryana and 1 from Punjab carrying battery scrap of Rs 19,22,819 .
The enforcement drive was carried out by team of STOs/ Inspectors/ Sub Inspectors/ Guards in supervision of Anil Kumar Chandail, Deputy Commissioner, Enforcement Jammu North (Udhampur) under the guidance of P K Bhat, Commissioner, State Taxes J&K, and Namrita Dogra, Addl Commissioner State Taxes, Jammu.
Commissioner appreciated the efforts of team, Udhampur, for its swift and effective action in breaking the nexus of dealers using fake ITC and discouraging the genuine dealers. He emphasized the department’s commitment to fostering a culture of accountability and strict compliance with GST laws/rules.
