JAMMU, Feb 10: A cultural cum felicitation event was held at the MCA Department, Jammu University, in which a book written in Pahari language “Hathi Ne Dandh” authored by Advocate Altaf Hussain Janjua was released.
This event was organised to commemorate the completion of one year of the historic decision by the Government of India to grant Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Pahari ethnic group of Jammu and Kashmir.
The book “Hathi Ne Dandh” was released by a distinguished group of guests, including the Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Pahari Advisory Board, Sapna Kotwal; SSP Anti-Corruption Bureau, Rashid Butt; Commandant of IRP 12 Battalion, Mumtaz Ahmed (IPS); retired IGP Raja Ajaz Ali; former MLA of Karnah, Raja Manzoor Ahmed; SP South Jammu, Ajay Sharma; renowned Pahari poet and writer, Sheikh Azad Ahmed Azad; renowned poet Rashid Qamar; former Secretary of the Pahari Advisory Board, Shaukat Kazmi; Head of Cardiology at Super Specialty Hospital Jammu, Dr Sushil Sharma; former Secretary of the Pahari Advisory Board, Kartar Singh; and former Additional Advocate General Ahsan Mirza and others.
This is the first book authored by Altaf Hussain Janjua in the Pahari language.
