JAMMU, Feb 10: Roopnagar JDA Housing Colony Welfare Association today highlighted various issues of the colony being faced by the local residents.
While addressing a press conference, here today, president of the Association, Bal Krishan Sharma, along with others, drew attention towards the current state of Upper Roopnagar Housing Colony and demanded reopening of shopping complex, introduction of Primary Health Centre, ATM etc on the patter of a modern model colony.
Even as he appreciated the works done by JDA and Jammu Municipal Corporation, Sharma lamented that sanitation issues remain un-addressed. “Despite several complaints and repeated reminders, no concrete action has been taken in this regard. Work and improvement related to sanitation is the need of the hour and requires grass root level decision making so as to improve the living conditions of the residents of the area,” he said.
Sharma informed that a delegation of the Association had meet the Urban Forest Department Jammu requesting the removal of fencing in spots where plants have already matured, thereby ensuring cleanliness of surrounding and removing nuisance.
The DFO, Ashwani Kumar Mittal assured the delegation that the task would be completed before the auspicious festival of Maha Shivaratri Mela on main route leading to Aap Shambu Mandir,” he added.
The association also drew attention towards JDA Club/Community Hall facility, its importance for the residents/public, and its long-awaited reopening.
The association reiterated its commitment to working with the administration for the continued development and progress of Upper Roopnagar Housing Colony.
Vinod Vaid (General Secretary), Mohan Gupta (Senior Vice President), Sagar Bodh Raj Dogra (Legal Advisor & Publicity In-charge), and other senior members of the association were present in the press conference.
