“Anti-Infiltration Grid has been strengthened along the LoC to ensure that the terrorists don’t manage to sneak-in again. The infiltration attempt by the terrorists has been foiled,” the officials said, adding number of the terrorists couldn’t be ascertained immediately.
Due to very less snowfall this winter, troops have been anticipating early infiltration attempts by the terrorists in the hilly areas and have accordingly braced themselves up to foil all such bids.
As per the officials, there were no casualties in the firing. However, as the shots were fired from the forest area, it is being believed that the terrorists escaped after observing movement of the troops. Whether some of the terrorists were injured in retaliatory firing by the troops is not known.
There have been reports that the terrorists have been camping at launch pads across twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region and Baramulla and Kupwara in the Kashmir valley and could try to infiltrate with the help of Pakistan army and some guides.
