Drug peddlers held with 13 Kg of poppy straw

JAMMU, Feb 8: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Manwal area arrested a drug peddler and seized 13 kilograms of poppy straw (commonly known as bhukki) from his possession.
A police official said that a police team from the Manwal Police Post was conducting a routine vehicle check at a Naka point.
During checking, a truck (RJ19GF/7903), coming from Udhampur and heading towards Mansar, was signaled to stop, he said.
However, the driver attempted to flee the scene, but was quickly apprehended by the police, he said.
The driver, identified as Vicky Kumar, son of Jeet Kumar from Atthara, Tehsil Nurpur, District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, was found carrying 13 kilograms of the illicit substance, the police official said.
Accordingly, he said, a case has been registered under the NDPS Act (FIR No. 21/2025) at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and further investigation started.
