JAMMU, Feb 8: Paying tribute to great saint and social reformer Guru Ravidas Ji on his Jayanti, senior National Conference leader and former Minister Ajay Sadhotra today called for imbibing the spirit of selflessness and righteousness as preached by saints and sages from times immemorial, saying camaraderie and fellow feelings are imperative for the harmonious growth of society.
“Guru Ravidas Ji taught and preached about the importance of compassion and equality which remain core of the human dignity”, Sadhotra said while flagging off a Shobha Yatra at Karwanda in Jammu North to celebrate the Jayanti of Guru Ravidas Ji which was organized by Parshotam Lal Thappa, president Guru Ravidas Satsang Society Karwanda and his team.
Sadhotra said that best way of celebrating the occasion is to take a pledge to follow his teachings in letter and spirit and work for building a society based on the natural principles of social justice, equality, compassion, love and togetherness. He said the life and teachings of great Guru have inspired the generations and helped in transforming the society, making it conducive for various communities, irrespective of cast, creed and colour. He said the relevance of the teaching of the great saint assume significance as never before, since the society at large is confronted with a challenge from elements inimical to brotherhood between various segments of people.
NC leader said the teachings of Guru Ravidas changed the perspectives of people and brought them to the right path in life. He made fervent appeal to devotees joining the Shobha Yatra to act upon and spread the message of love, peace and compassion, which was the high point of Guruji’s life.
Prominent among those who joined the Shobha Yatra included Capt Behari Lal Thappa, Master Sunil Thappa, Rattan Lal, Krishan Lal Chalotra, Pt Ved Parkash Sharma, Subash Choudhary, Ashu Soodan ex-Panch, Sat Pal and Ashok Kumar ex-Panch.
