JAMMU, Feb 7: A delegation from the Confederation of Physically Challenged Organisations (COPCO), led by president Ram Dass Dubey, met with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah here, and highlighted their grievances with the latter.
Other members of the delegation included senior vice-president Gopal Krishan, secretary Sushil Sharma, treasurer Parveen Manhas, and patron Roshan Bhan.
The delegation submitted a memorandum outlining their demands, which included the establishment of a special school for children with disabilities, an increase in the monthly pension for disabled persons, additional support for individuals with cerebral palsy, mental disabilities, and autism, as well as reservation in promotions.
Other demands included a census of disabled people, allotment of plots, flats, and residential accommodations, and political reservation for disabled individuals.
The Chief Minister listened to the concerns of the delegation and assured them that their legitimate demands would be given priority and addressed as soon as possible.
The delegation thanked the Chief Minister for his prompt attention to their issues.
