SRINAGAR, Feb 6: J&K National Health Mission (NHM) employees today expressed their resentment over the non-payment of monthly salaries at regular intervals.
Chief spokesperson of the J&K NHM Employees Association, Abdul Rauof, said nearly 11,000 employees working under the National Health Mission in various hospitals are tirelessly serving without their salaries being credited regularly.
“These frontline workers perform their legitimate duties without receiving risk allowances. We urge the authorities to address the salary issue on a priority basis,” he said.
He added that the employees have not yet received their salaries for the last two months, and the delay in crediting salaries at regular intervals has caused them significant hardship.
“It has become a norm for the Government to delay salary payments to NHM employees, despite the fact that we work 24/7 and contribute to essential health services for the general public,” Rauof said, adding, “We have been deprived of our basic dues.”
The President of the NHM Association has requested the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister to take cognizance of the issue and initiate action regarding the job security of these employees.
The spokesperson said there is complete apathy on the part of the Government, and nothing is being done in this regard.
“The authorities are forcing us to take to the streets. We may be forced to take harsher steps in the future, and this is our last reminder to the Government,” he said.
“We provide healthcare not only in urban areas but also in rural and remote hospitals. We have raised our genuine demands and grievances several times, but the assurances given have proven to be a hoax,” Rauof alleged.
