JAMMU, Feb 2: Expressing deep shock over the broad-daylight robbery at Anand Jewellers in Greater Kailash (Jammu), where two armed thieves looted approximately 1.5 kg of gold, Sarafa Association Jammu province, led by its president Raman Suri, has urged the Police Department to act swiftly and deploy teams in all directions to nab the culprits at the earliest.
Following the incident, Raman Suri, along with office bearers of Sarafa Association Jammu province namely senior vice president Rakesh Mahajan, vice president Deepak Jain and general secretary Vijay Kumar Verma, visited the crime scene to extend support to Prabha Anand, proprietor of the shop, and her family. Suri expressed relief that no one was physically harmed but emphasized that the loss is colossal and the incident is deeply concerning.
“It is shocking that such crimes are now taking place in Jammu, that too in broad daylight. The police must thoroughly examine the CCTV footage from the shop and nearby areas to trace the criminals,” Raman Suri said. He said the brazen manner in which the robbers executed their plan has left the local business community and residents shaken.
Suri stressed that investigation must be conducted swiftly to prevent the culprits from fleeing the UT. He urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s administration and the Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat and his efficient team to strengthen the security measures, especially in commercial areas, to prevent such incidents from recurring.
Condemning the heist, the Sarafa Association emphasized that this is one of the most serious security breaches in the area. While minor thefts were reported earlier, this large-scale robbery has raised alarms about the safety of business establishments.
After the telephonic conversation with the police authorities, Raman Suri, on their surety, assured the Anand family that police is making all efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. He also called for stronger security measures, including gated colonies and stricter surveillance, to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.
