JAMMU, Feb 2: Jammu, which is called the City of Temples, has been turned into a city of liquor, a victim of narco terror, and now become a stronghold of criminals.
This was stated by Manish Sahni, president of the J&K unit of Shiv Sena (UBT) while addressing media persons during a protest staged by party leaders under his leadership, here today. Holding placards displaying slogans “Unsafe Jammu”, “Khaki Past Gunde Mast”, the Shiv Sena activists staged a strong demonstration.
Manish Sahni said that in broad daylight, around 1.5 kg of gold jewellery was looted yesterday from a jewellery shop in posh Greater Kailash locality of Jammu city adjacent to National Highway. He said this is the third crime incident in this area within last ten days.
“People are already in panic due to increasing incidents of robbery on the newly constructed ring road and avoid driving on this road in night. Incidents of theft of two-wheelers and other petty thefts have become common in Jammu city while hooliganism and gang war have also taken root,” he added.

Sahni said two days back, there was a fire between criminals and police in Miran Sahib of Jammu and a few days before on Republic Day, the accused managed to escape after killing Sumit alias Gataru by riddling bullets in broad daylight in Jewel Chowk area of Jammu.
The Shiv Sena J&K chief has demanded investigation and police verification of all those living in illegal bastis, slums, particularly outsiders from Bangladesh and Myanmar.
Vikas Bakshi, Bharat Mahajan, Raj Singh, Rohan Malwal, Sham Lal, Jagbir, Sunita Kumari, Kiran Slathia, Ravi Kant, Vishal, Manesh Anand, Manjeet and many others were present during the protest.
