JAMMU, Feb 2: Dogri Sanstha Jammu celebrated its 81st Foundation Day in a simple but an impressive function organised at Dogri Bhawan, Karan Nagar, Jammu.
On this occasion Dogri Sanstha honoured Prof Lalit Magotra for being conferred prestigious Padmashri. While expressing his gratitude for the same, Prof Lalit Magotra said that for the last 80 years, Sanstha has been very active in putting best of efforts for achieving the set goals successfully whether its inclusion of Dogri in 8th schedule or other achievements. He recalled the long journey of Dogri Sanstha and said that the Foundation Day inspires all to introspect about their efforts yielding results thus getting inspired to become even more proactive for the noble cause of mother tongue and cultural traditions.
Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’, General Secretary Dogri Sanstha Jammu, while sharing his views on the auspicious day, said that Padmashri to Prof Magotra is in fact an honour for Sanstha as well as for the entire Dogra community. He hoped that Dogri Sanstha will continue flourishing under his able leadership and come up to expectations of Dogras in future also.
On this location, a ‘ Dogri Kavi Goshthi’ was also organised in which Prof Lalit Magotra, Inderjit Kesar, Sushil Begana, Dr Ashok Khajuria, Brij Mohan, Abdul Quddir Kundaria, Sunil Sharma, Randhir Singh Raipuria, Dr Nirmal Vinod, Ashok Angurana, Rajeshwar Singh Raju, Pawan Verma, , Kuldeep Kippi, Manju Sharma Ratanpal, Pankaj Sharma, Rajni Thappa, Tarun Charak, Sanjeev Kumar, Kushal Singh Kattal, Pankaj Sharma, Vageesh Sharma and Neha Sharma presented their thought provoking and amusing poetry.
Susheel Begana conducted the proceedings and Pawan Verma coordinated the function. Vote of thanks was presented by Veena Gupta.
It is pertinent to mention here that on this auspicious day of Basant Panchami in 1944, Dogri Sanstha, the oldest and most active literary organisation of UT of Jammu and Kashmir was founded by a group of six persons namely Prof Ram Nath Shastri, Pt Dinu Bhai Pant, B P Sathe, Sansar Chand Baru, D C Prashant and N D Mishra. Sanstha has been working tirelessly for the last so many years now for preserving and promoting mother tongue Dogri and regional cultural heritage.
