JAMMU, Jan 30: Rajeev Pandita, president of BJP Kashmir Displaced District (BJP KDD), along with key party representatives, met Dr. Arvind Karwani, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, to highlight urgent issues concerning the displaced Kashmiri Pandit (KP) community.
One of the primary concerns raised by the delegation was the dilapidated condition of residential quarters in Jagti, Purkhoo, Muthi and Nagrota. The delegation emphasized the immediate need for renovation and repair to ensure the safety and habitability of these quarters, which have been neglected for years. The delegation urged the Relief Commissioner to take swift action for their restoration.
The delegation also requested the arrangement of a free bus service for displaced community to participate in the Mahakumbh at Parayagraj as many community members, especially those residing in camps, have expressed their desire to attend the religious event and given their financial constraints, facilitating free transportation would be a significant support.
The delegation also raised the issue of migration certificates for children of displaced KP daughters married outside the community, which has hindered their access to education. They stressed the need for a fair and inclusive approach to resolve this challenge.
Other concerns included pending promotions and accommodation issues for PM package employees, the rising menance of stray animals in camps and the urgent need for permanent housing for displaced families suffering from serious health ailments.
Dr. Arvind Karwani assured the delegation that all these issues would be addressed on a priority basis for a timely resolution. Accompanying Rajeev Pandita were BJP KDD general secretary Harikrishen Razdan and Vice President Vimal Raina.
