SAMBA, Jan 27: Police in Samba District claimed today they have foiled bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 4 animals from the clutches of the smugglers.
A vehicle used for the transportation of the animals illegally has also been seized.
A police official said that acting on specific information, a Mahindra Load Carrier (JK21H-6198) coming from Kootah Hiranagar side towards Nichla District Samba was stopped by a team of Police Station Ghagwal led by SHO concerned.
On search of the vehicle, he said, four animals crammed inside the vehicle in a cruel manner were rescued and were shifted to a safer placed.
The vehicle driver, however, managed to escape from the spot, he said.
Accordingly, the police official said that a case FIR number 14/2025 under sections 281/223 of the BNS, 11 PCA was registered at police station Ghagwal and further investigation started.
