JAMMU, Jan 27: As promised by Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, Sheetal Devi, a proud recipient of the prestigious Arjuna Award today took the delivery of Mahindra Scorpio N.
Speaking on the occasion Sheetal Devi said, “It has been exciting to go see the various vehicles from Mahindra to choose one for myself. I am excited to take delivery of my new Mahindra Scorpio N! My thanks to the Mahindra Auto team and Anand Mahindra for the gesture!”
Sheetal Devi is an inspiring para-archer from Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, born with phocomelia, a rare congenital disorder that affected the development of her arms.
Despite this challenge, she has achieved incredible success in para-archery, becoming the world’s first armless female archer.
She has received the prestigious Arjuna Award from the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, on January 9, 2024. This award is the second-highest sporting honour in the country.
Sheetal also won gold medals in the individual compound and mixed team events at the Asian Para Games 2023 and secured an individual silver medal at the World Archery Para Championships, becoming the first female armless archer to win a medal in the competition’s history.
Moreover, she also clinched a bronze medal in the mixed compound archery team event, becoming India’s youngest Paralympic medallist at Paris 2024 Paralympics.
Sheetal Devi’s determination and passion for archery have made her a role model and inspiration for many. She continues to push boundaries and inspire others to pursue their dreams despite challenges.
