SRINAGAR, Jan 24: Police today arrested ten drug peddlers across Kashmir, recovering charas and other contraband substances from their possession.
As per police, in Awantipora, two drug peddlers were arrested, from whose possession, 1.21 kilograms of grinded cannabis was recovered
Authorities stated that the police party apprehended the peddlers during a naka at Kadlabal-Noorpora crossing.
The duo has been identified as Suhail Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohd Shaban Bhat, resident of Kangan A/P Achabal and Mehraj-ud-Din Sheikh son of Mohad Jabbar Sheikh resident of Tailwani Achabal, police said.
“During the search, 1.21 kg of grinded cannabis-like powder was recovered from their possession.”
As per police, a case Vide FIR No. 18/2025 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered in Police station Awantipora, with further investigation on-going.
In Anantnag, a Police team from Police Station Bijbehara, at a checkpoint established at Bonpora Uranhal, intercepted an auto-rickshaw bearing registration number JK01K-2485 with three persons on board.
They have been identified as Zubair Ahmad Dar son of Nazir Ahmad Dar resident of Khanabal Batangoo, Muzafar Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Yousuf Dar resident of Uranhal and Umar Majeed Ganie son of Abdul Majeed resident of Chee Anantnag, police said.
“During search, 2.8 kgs of charas powder-like substance was recovered from their possession.”
A police party from Police Station Srigufwara intercepted a suspicious individual carrying a bag while approaching from Chek Poshkreeri towards Poshkreeri.
The individual attempted to escape upon spotting the naka party but was swiftly apprehended, police said.
As per police, he has been identified as Mohd Shafi Ganie son of Late Gh Ahmad Ganie resident of Chek Poshkreeri.
“During search, 1.458 Kgs of Cannabis Powder was recovered from his possession.”
In Sopore, a police team of PS Bomai during patrolling at Tujjer Shareef Sopore, arrested a drug peddler identified as Abdul Hameed Lone son of Mohammad Ramzan Lone resident of Tujjer Shareef Sopore.
“During search, 20 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession.”
Similarly, at a checkpoint established at Behrampora Drusoo Rafiabad by a team of Police Post Watergam arrested a drug peddler identified as Shabir Ahmad Ganie son of Mohammad Yousuf Ganie resident of Behrampora.
As per police, during a search, 1200 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.
In Kupwara, a police team of PS Trehgam at a checkpoint near Sumo Stand, Trehgam, arrested a drug peddler identified as Ashiq Ahmad Mochi son of Mohd Sultan Mochi resident of Mochi Mohalla, Trehgam. During search, 55 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession, police said. Meanwhile, a police party of Police Station Pattan headed by SHO PS Pattan at a checkpoint established near GDC Pattan, intercepted a person identified as Showkat Ahmad Bhat son of Gulzar Ahmad resident of Yakhmanpora Pattan.
“During search, 19 syrups of banned drugs (Cocas Dx) were recovered from his possession and was subsequently arrested.”
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pattan and investigations have been initiated.
