SRINAGAR, Jan 23: Prominent tourism associations today called for the establishment of a dedicated Tourism Board that includes private sector representatives to enhance collaboration between the government and tourism stakeholders.
This demand was raised during a joint press conference here, which included members of the Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK), AITO (JK Chapter), the Kashmir Houseboat Owners Association, Travel Agents Society of Kashmir, and Tourist Trade Interest Guild.
A spokesperson said that the leading tourism associations of Jammu and Kashmir convened to discuss the challenges facing the tourism industry. “The assembly featured key industry figures who presented proposals aimed at advancing the Jammu and Kashmir tourism sector,” he said.
He added that the associations also advocated for appointing a tourism advisor to improve communication between the government and industry stakeholders, ensuring effective policy implementation. He further emphasized the need for aggressive tourism promotion campaigns to showcase Jammu and Kashmir’s unique attractions, attract visitors, and rejuvenate the sector following recent challenges.
