KATRA, Jan 19: In a significant step towards fostering student growth, academic collaboration and intellectual exchange, the School of Biotechnology (SoBT), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), hosted an interactive session with faculty, postgraduate (PG) and Bachelor of Technology (B Tech) Biotechnology students with the faculty from the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu.
The event brought together thought leaders, researchers, and students from both the institutions to discuss advancements, challenges, and opportunities in biotechnology and biochemical engineering. The primary aim of the event was to establish a platform for interdisciplinary learning and collaboration between SMVDU and IIT Jammu.
Dr Mithu, Head and a distinguished faculty member Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering IIT-Jammu, led the session with an engaging discussion on the soon to be offered M tech program in Biomedical devices.
Prof Ratna Chandra, Head of the School of Biotechnology at SMVDU, said that the exchange is not only about sharing knowledge but also about creating a roadmap for joint research projects, academic collaborations, and nurturing the next generation of biotechnologists.
Faculty from IIT Jammu highlighted their ongoing research in bioengineering, synthetic biology, and drug delivery systems. Students from PG Biotechnology and B Tech Biotechnology at SMVDU actively participated in discussions, showcasing their curiosity and enthusiasm.
Dr Shafaq Rasool, Associate Professor, at School of Biotechnology and Associate Dean Academic Affairs, highlighted importance of interdisciplinary research.
