J&K BJP Core Group meets

JAMMU, Jan 6: To take the stock of organisational elections and discuss the prevailing situation in the UT of J&K, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held its Core Group meeting here early this morning.

The meeting, which was chaired by party UT president, Sat Sharma (CA) was addressed by national general secretary BJP and incharge J&K, Tarun Chugh. The Core Group, taking stock of the ongoing organisational elections and membership drive urged the UT leaders that the process for Mandal level elections be completed by January 9 while the district level elections should be completed by January 16. The party also handed over the list of prospective Mandal and district presidents to national leadership for scrutiny in the meeting.
It, while discussing prevailing situation in the UT, said that BJP will continue to be the watchdog of people’s rights and champion their cause. The party will not deviate from its agenda which is nation first, party second and self third.
Chugh, while addressing the meeting apprised the party of High Command’s decision which has decided that the age of Mandal presidents should be from 35 to 45 years while that of district presidents should be from 40 to 60 years. He urged the party leadership that they should strictly adhere to this criteria while holding the elections for the Mandal and District presidents in the UT. The Mandal and district level elections will be followed by election of UT president. Election of UT and State presidents all over the country will be followed by election of national president, party sources said.
Sources said party’s online and offline membership has touched to 8.5 lakh in J&K which included seven lakh online membership and 1.50 lakh offline members. The membership drive in the UT was started on November 6 and it is still continuing, sources added.
Party president, Sat Sharma said that the Core Group meeting mainly concentrated on the ‘Sangathan Parv’ of the party besides the current socio-political issues of Jammu & Kashmir.
Chugh, while addressing the meeting lauded the efforts of PM Modi-led Union Government for its consistent efforts to develop the Jammu & Kashmir at an unprecedented pace. The Modi Government’s unwavering commitment to Jammu & Kashmir’s holistic development continues to bring tangible benefits to the region, setting it on the path of unprecedented growth and prosperity, he added.
Chugh, while taking stock of the ‘Sangathan Parv’ and the ongoing organizational elections after the successful conduct of the membership drive appreciated the efforts of party men in making the membership drive a grand success in the UT under the leadership of BJP president, Sat Sharma. He asked to expedite the Mandal elections during the organizational elections, and subsequent election of district presidents in a time-bound manner.
Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh, Leader of Opposition, Sunil Sharma, MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, national secretary, Dr Narinder Singh, party general secretary (Org), Ashok Koul, general secretaries including Dr D K Manyal and Vibodh Gupta, MLA Doda West and party vice president, Shakti Parihar, former Deputy CM, Kavinder Gupta former president Ravinder Raina, chairperson, Wakf Board Dr Darkshan Andrabi, chief spokesperson, Sunil Sethi spokesperson, G L Raina and other members of Core Group were present in the meeting.
Sat Sharma, while addressing the meeting, noted that the gift of the Railway Division and the development of the Railway network up to Baramulla will give further pace to the growing business opportunities in the Union Territory. With the ease of commuting and the transport of freight, there will be a boost in the local industrial set-ups, employment opportunities, new business and industrial units, and the development of new business centers, contributing to the socio-economic development of the people of Jammu & Kashmir, he added.
Sharma also gave a detailed insight into the ongoing election processes under the ‘Sangathan Parv’ of the party. He said that the party will choose the best activists for the Mandal presidents and the district presidents under the ongoing election process, who all will further strengthen the party and serve the society with dedication.
