JAMMU, Dec 17: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today demanded from the State Government to release the outstanding amount to the vendors registered under MGNREGA.
The demand was raised by BSP J&K President, Darshan Rana in a press statement issued here today.
Rana said the vendors who provided construction material for the development works done under MGNREGA scheme from the year 2016 to 2019 have not received the outstanding amount till date, whereas all these development works have been inspected by the Rural Development Department and the amount released by the government is lying with the Finance Ministry of Jammu Kashmir.
“In such a situation, the government needs to release the outstanding amount as soon as possible,” he said and added that the vendors spent lakhs of rupees from their own pockets to provide construction material under this scheme so that the development work could be accelerated and people could get basic facilities, but despite many years having passed, these vendors have not yet received the outstanding amount. Due to which these vendors are facing financial crisis and this is also affecting the development work to be done in future.”
The BSP chief said that this demand has been continuously placed by his party first before the LG and now before the state government, but till now no step has been taken by the government in this direction.
“The National Conference government had said in its manifesto before the elections that this outstanding amount would be released as soon as possible, in such a situation, the government should live up to its manifesto and release the outstanding amount soon,” he added.
