JAMMU, Dec 15: A couple was arrested with 28 grams of heroin from Channi Himmat area here today.

Addressing media persons here, SP Jammu South Ajay Sharma said one Rahul Singh Jamwal and his wife Shagun Chandel alias Tannu Jamwal, both residents of Channi Rama, were held with the consignment during routine patrolling at Channi Himmat naka.
He said the accused were accordingly booked in case FIR number 171/2024 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Channi Himmat and further investigation taken up to unearth the forward and backward linkages of the arrested individuals.
Pertinently, the arrests and seizure were made by a team of Police Station Channi Himmat led by SHO Channi Himmat Inspector Shariq Bhat under the supervision of SDPO City East Sheezan Bhat and SP Jammu South Ajay Sharma.
Meanwhile, in a statement, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh urged the citizens to join hands with the police in their fight against narcotics.
He asked general public to share information related to drug abuse or peddling on police helpline number 95419-51100 with a promise to keep the identity of the informer confidential.
