Fire turns residential house into ashes

SAMBA, Dec 6: A residential house in Suchetgarh Kulliyan, a village on the border of Samba, was burnt to ashes due to fire today.
According to the information fire broke out suddenly in the house on Friday, after which it engulfed the entire house in no time. Army personnel along with the people of the neighbourhood came to control the blaze but could not control it. Police personnel also reached the spot as soon as the information was received by them, along with the fire brigade vehicle but by then it was too late. All the goods kept inside the house were burnt to ashes. The head of the family, Garu Ram, son of Devi Ditta, is a poor person who runs a barber shop to feed his family. He was also not at home at the time of the incident. As soon as he saw his house has turned into ashes he fainted and was taken to the District Hospital Samba where he is undergoing treatment. The reason for the fire could not be ascertained. The members present in the house said that suddenly the fire broke out in the house and before they could do anything, it engulfed the entire house and everything was reduced to ashes and they could not save anything. All household goods including clothes and books of children and some jewellery perished in the fire. Tehsildar Samba Shabbir Ahmed said that as soon as they got information about this incident, they immediately deputed the officers and provided relief material including Tents, kitchen items, blankets, ration and other items on the spot through the Red Cross. He also said that a detailed report of this incident will be prepared in the next one or two days and relief will also be provided soon so that the family can re-start their life again.
