JAMMU, Dec 4: The Crime Branch (CB) has arrested three accused, including two notorious fraudsters, in multiple cases of cheating and forgery.
A Crime Branch official said that one Jameel Anjum, a resident of Narania Mohalla, Jammu, was wanted in several cases of cheating.
He said nine FIRs and one Police Verification (PV) case were registered against him with the Crime Branch and Jammu Police.
He was arrested after it was proven that he duped Karan Singh, a resident of Rani Park Jammu, of Rs 28.20 lakh by promising him a Government job.
According to him, another individual, Saroop Lal, a resident of Bari Brahmana, Jammu, was involved in ten FIRs and two PVs, and was also previously detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
Saroop Lal was arrested for cheating Ram Paul of Kathua, who lost Rs 5 lakh in a similar job scam, said the CB official.
He further claimed that a third accused, Arvinder Singh of Jammu, was arrested in a separate case for preparing fake Permanent Resident Certificates (PRC) and illegally acquiring land, in collaboration with revenue officials.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch, Benam Tosh, confirmed that the challans against all the individuals in separate FIRs have been produced in the courts in Jammu and Kathua districts.
