JAMMU, Dec 4: Pressing for their regularization, the engineers of Power Development Department today announced to go on one day strike in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Dec 30.
JKEEGA after exhausting all democratic means to motivate Government for resolving long pending issues viz-a-viz regularization of engineers, assured career progression, filling up of vacant vacancies and recruitment of JEs called meeting of its apex body (Guidance Council), post joint emergency Executive Council meetings of Jammu and Kashmir regions.
The Guidance Council was attended by majority of members including CEs, SEs, XEns, AEEs/AEs and JEs, who unequivocally raised concerns that various corporations under the administrative head of JKPDD despite of all efforts by JKEEGA have been left on the mercy of fate.
Briefing about the issues faced by Power engineers, Pirzada Hidayatullah, president JKEEGA and Sachin Tickoo, general secretary JKEEGA in a joint press statement said that the Power engineers of JKPDD feel alienated and neglected as basic HR issues faced by Power engineers have not been settled by successive governments which has led to huge distress amongst the cadre.
Further, it was apprised that HR issues like regularization of Engineers, assured career progression despite Cabinet decision, issuance of promotions orders of approved files, issuance of posting orders, charge allowance in respect of in-charge promotions, recruitment of Junior Engineers which in other Departments take a single stroke of pen have been delayed in a systematic manner by years all together. Further, it was briefed that administrative department of JKPDD has failed to implement SAC order of 2019 which had ordered regularization of all Power engineers to be completed in 2 months time back then.
But it is very unfortunate that promotions file of Superintending Engineers/ has been tossing back and forth repeatedly leading to permanent damage to the superannuated engineers falling in consideration zone and needs to be resolved.
The Guidance Council meet post deliberation of issues resolved that in the first instance 26-days notice to Government shall be served with the demand that orders for regularization of Power engineers as per SAC decision 258/22/2019, dated 22-10-2019 be issued failing which one day protest on Dec 30 shall be held by Power Engineers across J&K, with support of All India Power Engineers Federation.
