JAMMU, Nov 23: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, today inaugurated a vocational training course for inmates at the Police Drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centre in Jammu.
The 10-day cooking workshop, conducted in collaboration with the SBI Rural Self-Employment Training Institute, is part of the Centre’s holistic approach to drug de-addiction.
The initiative focuses on not only physical and psychological recovery but also skill development and social reintegration of individuals recovering from substance abuse.
During his visit, ADGP Anand Jain was briefed on the workshop, which aims to provide vocational training to patients undergoing rehabilitation. The training classes are designed to support the recovery process by fostering self-sufficiency and skill-building among participants.
Jain also took a comprehensive tour of the Centre, inspecting the infrastructure, medical facilities, and counselling services.
He interacted with the patients, inquiring about their progress and well-being. Expressing satisfaction with the Centre’s efforts, the ADGP lauded the quality of care and rehabilitation services provided.
He emphasized the importance of a multi-faceted approach, combining medical treatment, psychological counselling, and vocational training to ensure long-term recovery and successful reintegration into society.
The ADGP urged the Centre’s staff to continue their efforts in raising awareness about the dangers of drug addiction and promoting early intervention.
He stressed the importance of strong community involvement and collaboration with various stakeholders to effectively address the growing issue of drug abuse.
