JAMMU, Nov 19: Bharat Bhushan Bodhi, Chairman of the District Development Council (DDC), strongly criticized the National Conference for the recent resolution passed in the Assembly seeking dialogue for the restoration of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
He asserted that Article 370, which was abrogated in 2019, will never return, emphasizing that such discussions only serve to create unnecessary chaos and confusion among the people.
The DDC Chairman was speaking after inaugurating blacktopping work at Lower Gharota as a part of Rs 1.75 crore road project sanctioned in Bhalwal Block under the City Town Plan for Jammu district.
Bharat Bhushan highlighted the need for governance focused on development and public welfare. “The prerogative of Government is to work for the development of its people, not to engage in acts that sow discord and derail the progress of the region,” he said.
Bharat Bhushan also took a strong stand against some Confederation for its recent statements on restoration of special status, terming them irrelevant and misleading. He criticized the group for acting as self-styled leaders without any elected mandate and accused them of confusing the community on critical issues.
The DDC Chairman expressed his discontent over the reduction in the annual budget allocated under the City Town Plan for district Jammu. He urged the Government to review its decisions and ensure equitable allocation of funds to bolster the region’s infrastructure and development initiatives.
The DDC Chairman said that the blacktopping project initiated at Lower Gharota is part of ongoing efforts to improve connectivity and enhance the quality of life for residents, reflecting the administration’s commitment to fulfilling grassroots development needs.
Later, Bharat Bhushan interacted with the residents of Gharota and listened to their grievances. He assured them of his commitment to resolving their issues, particularly regarding infrastructure and public services, and emphasized his continued dedication to the holistic development of Bhalwal and adjoining areas.
