JAMMU, Nov 19: The Jammu and Kashmir Handicapped Association is being forced to hold protests and dharnas again in support of their demands.
Abdul Rashid Bhat, president of J&K Handicapped Association, in a press statement today said that for the first time since 2019, the Government of Omar Abdullah (NC) in Jammu and Kashmir has come to power, so we feel very happy that now the problems of many physically challenged people of J&K will be solved. This has also mentioned himself by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Social Welfare Minister Sakina Masood Itoo also.
The Association had applied to the office of the Chief Minister, Social Welfare Minister and Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to give time to meet the office bearers. The purpose is to to project the burning issues of lakhs of physically challenged people of the J&K UT.
The Association wants a road map prepared to solve the issues of handicapped persons in a phased manner. We have not received any response to these requests from the government. If the Government of J&K is not ready to solve the problems of disabled people, the Handicapped Association has decided to hold a strong protest in Jammu and Srinagar on the occasion of World Disability Day on December 3, 2024, as well as at the district headquarters and mark the day as Black Day.
After that, an indefinite dharna will be started in Jammu from December 28, 2024. It will continue till the demands of the physically challenged people of Jammu and Kashmir are resolved. If any untoward incident happens, all the responsibility will fall on the Government and UT Administration.
