JAMMU, Nov 17: All J&K Megh Sabha today felicitated the newly elected Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from the Megh community.
A grand function organised in this regard at Sabha’s Headquarters, honoured GR Bhagat, MLA Suchetgarh; Dr Rajiv Kumar Bhagat, MLA Bishnah; Mohan Lal Bhagat, MLA Akhnoor and Surinder Bhagat, MLA Marh. The event also witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Megh Biradari.
The MLAs were felicitated with mementoes by Narinder Dutt, President of the Sabha, in the presence of Executive Working Committee members and community members.
The gathering celebrated the MLAs’ impressive electoral victories, highlighting the strong and decisive mandates they received from their constituencies.
Addressing the gathering, Narinder Dutt highlighted the key concerns of the Megh community. These included strict enforcement of the reservation policy as per roster points, filling up of backlog posts, initiating recruitment drives, and amending the SRO to reinforce reservation in promotions.
He also urged the enhancement of the income ceiling for SC students from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh per annum to promote education among Economically Weaker Sections.
Additionally, he called for the early appointment of a vice-chairperson and members for the SC Development Advisory Board to address the welfare needs of the SC community.
The MLAs assured the gathering that they would advocate for these pressing issues and work collectively to address the community’s concerns. Their commitment to highlighting and resolving these matters was met with applause.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ram Lal Bhagat, Chairman of the Advisory Board, who expressed gratitude to the MLAs, the media, and the attendees for making the event a success.
Prominent attendees included Sham Lal Bhagat, Dr Jeet Raj Bazala, Amar Nath, Param Veer Bhagat, Romesh Chander, and leaders of the Women Wing, including Swarna Bhagat and Promila Devi.
