SRINAGAR, Nov 16: The doubles event of the Srinagar Open Tennis Championship 2024 began at Gindun Tennis Courts, here today with 11 matches played on the first day.
Sajad and Rouf had a rough start, losing by 0-6 to Jameel and Haider in a Group B match. However, they quickly recovered, winning their next two matches. They beat Raman and Chinna by 6-3 and followed it up with a 6-0 win over Danish and Qais. To qualify for the semifinals, Sajad and Rouf must win their final group match against Gurmit and Irfan without losing a game.
Raman and Chinna remained in the race for a semifinal spot after upsetting tournament favorites Jameel and Haider.
In Group A, Inayat and Dilbagh secured their place in the semifinals after winning all three of their matches. In a thrilling tiebreaker, Shadab and Amrit caused an upset by defeating Talat and Tufail. The competition remains intense as players battle for positions in the semifinals, with more exciting matches expected in the coming days.
