SRINAGAR, Nov 7: National Conference MLAs stated today that there is no “ambiguity” in the resolution passed by the Assembly on Wednesday, which seeks dialogue on the restoration of special status for J&K.
Legislator from Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq, speaking to reporters, said that some individuals are attempting to mislead the public-apparently referring to a joint resolution moved today by the PDP, Peoples Conference and AIP, explicitly seeking the restoration of Articles 370 and 35-A.

“Before 2019, special status included Article 370, 35-A, and other protections. When we combined all of these under the call for special status, there was no need for further definition,” he said.
He added that these five individuals are acting in a manner similar to the BJP. “We fulfilled our promise and passed the resolution with a full majority,” he said.
Cabinet Minister Sakeena Masood said that Sajjad Gani Lone should be “ashamed” and accused him of lacking direction.
“He was a Minister through the Nagpur quota when J&K’s guarantees were taken away. He was a Minister then; he only won by 500 votes, and he should stop putting on an act,” she said.
MLA Sonawari, Hilal Akbar Lone, said that the passing of the resolution has unsettled the BJP, emphasizing that the Government has fulfilled its promises to the people.
“Special status means Article 370-what more do they want? They (referring to the joint resolution) are only trying to survive politically, as they have no agenda. No private member can propose this in the Assembly,” he said.
He added, “We have to work hard to restore the special status. This is only the first step. What is the need to bring the resolution again?”
Meanwhile, the Assembly resolution seeking Constitutional guarantees and dialogue on the restoration of special status for J&K was forwarded today by the Secretary of the J&K Legislative Assembly to the Chief Secretary of J&K “for further necessary action.”
