Delegations call on Chief Justice

JAMMU, Oct 30: Separate delegations of District Bar Association Kathua and All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations, J&K, called on Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan, here today and submitted memoranda of demands.
The members of District Bar Association Kathua, led by its president Advocate Ajat Shatru Sharma, submitted a memorandum to the Chief Justice highlighting their demands and issues relating to plasticising advocates in Kathua.
They demanded requirement of additional minimum 50 chambers apart from under construction 36 chambers in the new building of District Court Complex.
The delegation also sought essential facilities in under construction Lawyers Chamber complex, like canteen, Bar Rooms, library, office of the Bar Association with attached bathroom, conference hall, e-library, LCD/LED with video conferencing facility. The Bar members also felicitated the Chief Justice.
The delegation urged the Chief Justice to issue appropriate directions to the concerned authorities as early as possible in interest of the Advocates of District Bar Association Kathua.
Meanwhile, a deputation of All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations, J&K, led by R K Kalsotra, also met Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan and requested for the installation of a statue of Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar in the Jammu High Court premises.
“Installation of Dr Ambedkar’s statue will be a tribute to his tireless efforts in shaping India’s Constitution and promoting social justice besides inspire future generations to strive for equality and human rights,” said Kalsotra.
The Confederation also requested the Chief Justice to consider recommending Scheduled Caste candidates for elevation as judges of the High Court. “This would be a pivotal step towards promoting social justice, equity and fair play, as no Scheduled Caste candidate has held this position since the High Court’s inception in 1928,” said Kalsotra and hoped that tenure of Tashi Rabstan will usher in a speedy and efficient judicial system, ensuring timely justice for all.
The Chief Justice , while interacting with the members of the delegations, assured them of appropriate redressal of the genuine issues.
