KISHTWAR, Oct 14: A devastating fire here today in remote mountainous hamlet Mulwarwan of tehsil Warwan caused heavy damage to about 40 houses and the household items kept there were destroyed.
Fire tenders from Kokernag, Anantnag were pressed into service while the local administration and civilians also joined to douse the blaze.
However, no loss of life has been reported from the incident.

After getting information about the incident, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan along with his team rushed to the spot and personally monitored the rescue operation.
The DC informed that rescue teams were on job and the office of Divisional Administration was updated about the incident.
Under the directions of DC Kishtwar, essential relief material has been dispatched for the fire hit families. The relief material included 40 mattresses, 40 bed-sheets, 40 pillows, 40 buckets, 48 jugs, 40 soap cases, 40 water coolers, 40 blankets, 150 glasses, 25 kitchen sets and 35 tents.
The Deputy Commissioner has immediately released Rs. 5 lakh relief in this regard from Red Cross for the affected families.
