JAMMU, Apr 18: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today held a protest demonstration against increasing traffic chaos in city and its outskirts and swindling of funds amounting to Rs 132 crore by PWD, R&B, ERA and JMC.
Activists of JWAM followed by irate traders and citizens today blocked Janipur-High Court Road and disrupted traffic for some time in protest against deteriorated conditions of roads, lanes and drains of Jammu West Constituency, besides traffic congestion on important roads.
Raising slogans against PWD R&B, ERA and JMC for the swindling of the Rs 132 crores funds, meant Sewerage project, the JWAM activists demanded CBI enquiry into ongoing work of the ERA, alleging that all the engineering staff of the ERA, PWD and R&B are hand in glove with the contractors and the public money is being lavishly used and wasted.
They also criticized the Government for putting in cold storage the construction of flyovers and widening of BC Road.
Alleging that all the roads of the Jammu city, particularly of Rehari Chungi, New Plot, Janipur, Roop Nagar, Sarwal Rehari, Top Sherkhania, Bakshi Nagar, Talab Tillo, Subash Nagar, Shiv Nagar, Shakti Nagar and Resham Ghar are in worst condition, JWAM president, Sunil Dimple, demanded immediate black topping of all the roads.
He also accused the present State Government of doing nothing to solve the traffic problem, which is rising day by day in Jammu city and its outskirts.
