JAMMU, Apr 15: A police constable allegedly shot himself dead with his official weapon in his rented house at Banihal in Ramban district.
The victim has been identified as Javed Ahmed Lone son of Ghulam Mohammad Lone R/o Mangit, Banihal, presently putting up in a rented house at Banihal town. He was posted at Banihal police station.
Police said Lone reportedly shot himself dead with his official AK-47 rifle. He was rushed to hospital by his mother and neighbours, where he was declared as brought dead.
Police have sent the body for post-mortem and were examining reasons behind the provocation, which was stated to be some family dispute.
