UDHAMPUR, Apr 14: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Shantmanu today reviewed preparedness for the elections in Doda, Kishtwar and Udhampur districts in separate meetings with the administration.
Inspector General of Police, Jammu Range, Rajesh Kumar, IGP CRPF Jammu Sector, Kuldeep Dhar, respective DIGs, SSPs and District Electoral Officers attended the meetings.
Stressing on close co-ordination between civil and police administration, Divisional Commissioner directed that police personnel and polling staff should move together and proper boarding and lodging arrangements should be made for the polling parties on election duty in shared Assembly constituencies. He also directed the CRPF, SSB and other security agencies to maintain 24 hours vigil during election duty.
The District Electoral Officers of these districts informed Divisional Commissioner about boarding and lodging facility made available to the polling staff and security personnel. They also made detailed power point presentation regarding the poll arrangements, MCC, EVMs, man power managements, induction of polling parties, transport plan, special plan for far flung areas, difficult terrain of the districts and chopper services for inaccessible areas.
The Divisional Commissioner directed all Zonal/Sectoral and police officers that no loopholes should be left, no MCC violations should be allowed to happen on the polling day and all MCC guidelines of ECI should be strictly adhered to.
He said that while issuing EVMs to the polling parties, reserve EVMs should be given to them so that the polling process would not hinder. He stressed upon the Zonal/Sectoral officers to get mobile phones fully charged on the polling day so that no reporting problem would be faced. He further directed all Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates to be vigilant and report immediately to higher officers if any complaint of non functioning of EVMs would be received during first two to three hours of the start of polling , as these are very crucial.
