SRINGAR, Apr 13: Senior Congress leader and Minister for Health, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today appealed Congress workers and people in general to reject divisive and communal politics practiced by certain groups in the State as well as Country which he said is to the detriment of peace and development.
Addressing a series of public meetings at Panthachowk area today, Taj asked Congress workers to work tirelessly for the success of party and coalition candidates in the elections. He said the Congress and UPA stand for inclusive growth, prosperity and development where as the opposition reflects divisive elements and vested interest groups that are hell bent on creating division among people in the name of catchy slogans and ideas.
Without naming BJP, the senior Congress leader said their aim is just to hoodwink the gullible and innocent people and not to make any positive contribution to people’s lives. “They have nothing to offer you except impede the growth of the State and Country which has undergone a turnaround after the hard efforts of the present Government”, he said.
He asserted that the present Government is working hard to ameliorate the living standards of people particularly those living below poverty line, in far flung areas and belonging to weaker sections of society for which many schemes and programmes are in vogue.
The Minister said many path breaking steps were taken during the last five years of present Government due to which the State has seen phenomenal growth and progress in sectors like education, health, social welfare etc.
District president, Srinagar, Abdul Ghani Khan and Congress activist Kadfeen Choudhary also spoke on the occasion.
